Author Alan Anderson?s New Children?s Book Celebrates the Christmas Spirit

MURRAY, Utah (PRWEB) December 20, 2011

For many people, the Christmas season is a time of happiness, family and celebration. This is especially true for Alan Anderson. In his new book, The Christmas Sleigh (published by WestBow Press), Anderson weaves his fond memories of Christmas into a children?s story book that is sure to put anyone in the Christmas spirit.

The Christmas Sleigh tells the story of a young girl who is out on the town celebrating Christmas. Her parents, who are separated, put aside their differences for the evening on behalf of their daughter. While on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the park, the friendly driver tells an exciting Christmas story about his own life which in the end has a magical affect on his customers.

Tommy the Christmas sleigh driver only seeks to make his passengers happy, an outlook on life that Anderson hopes will touch readers. ?It is a story that can have great affect upon anyone willing to listen and apply, but there is more to him than meets they eye and Anya comes to learn his secret.?

?Happiness cannot be found in seeking after selfish pleasures,? says Anderson, ?it can only be found as one puts forth sincere effort to make others happy.?

About the Author

Alan Anderson lives in Salt Lake City. Since his youth he has loved writing stories and drawing pictures, although this is his first attempt to share one of his stories with the public. He loves everything about Christmas ? the lights, the music, the decorations, family, snow, giving gifts, the celebration of the birth of our Savior. Anderson contends that when we care about others, life becomes richer.

While most people look forward to the holiday season, its arrival can bring remarkable amounts of StressFreeFast.com” rel=”StressFreeFast.com”>stress and negativity. Whether it’s long lines at the mall or searching for an affordable plane ticket, holiday hassles can make it difficult to keep a smile on one’s face. Additionally, the economic uncertainties plaguing many families are causing them to question how they can realistically participate in the season of giving.

So what can everyday people do to maintain and spread holiday cheer? And how can we broaden the concept of giving beyond just money and gifts?

Author, facilitator, and behavioral expert Beverly Flaxington has answers. Her latest book “Understanding Other People: The Five Secrets to Human Behavior” (understandingotherpeople.com) aims to help people to improve their personal relationships and to deal more effectively with difficult people and situations. “Giving can mean simply giving of one?s self. It can mean giving of a happy spirit, of a smile or a kind word,” says Beverly. “Sometimes the best sort of giving is the kind that doesn?t include anything monetary but is simply a gesture that says to someone, ‘You matter in the world’.”

Ask Beverly:

— How to keep personal StressFreeFast.com” rel=”StressFreeFast.com”>stress and family tensions to a minimum during the holidays

— What quick and simple ways exist to give to others

— How it’s still possible to “give” without buying gifts or spending money

— Why it’s important to spread holiday cheer to those who are often forgotten

Beverly D. Flaxington is an accomplished consultant, personal and career coach, author, college professor, corporate trainer, facilitator, behavioral expert, and business development expert, she has most recently appeared in or on “Eye on New York” on WCBS TV, U.S. News & World Report, ABCNews.com, MSN, ?The Balancing Act? on Lifetime Television, Voice of America, NECN: New England Cable News, KNX 1070 Newsradio CBS Los Angeles, IRN/USA News, “The Shaun Proulx Show” on OUTtv, WJR Detroit, “The Jordan Rich Show” on WBZ Boston, “Talk of Chicago” with Kendall Moore, the CKNW Morning News Vancouver, Entrepreneur, The Christian Science Monitor, and several others.

An information session about George Fox University?s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is scheduled as the application deadline approaches for the January start of the university?s Full-Time MAT Plus program.

The application deadline for MAT Plus ? a four-semester format that offers two additional endorsements to the MAT degree ? is Thursday, Dec. 15.

An information meeting on the masters in teaching degree in Portland will be held at the university?s Portland Center near Tigard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The Portland Center is located at 12753 S.W. 68th Ave., in Portland.

The Bet That Really Paid Off: Aspiring Author Wins Writing Contest, will be Published in July 2012 Novel Headlined by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Debbie Macomber

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 18, 2011

Christmas came early for aspiring author Darlene Panzera: just in time for the holidays, Panzera learned that a veritable angel, in the form of #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber, has selected Darlene?s novella, ?The Bet,? to be published in the July 2012 edition of Macomber?s heartwarming book, Family Affair. Darlene is one of hundreds of unpublished authors who participated in Avon Books? ?Make Your Dreams Come True? writing contest, offering all those who participated the chance to win a golden ticket ? the chance to be published alongside one of the most important authors in modern literature.

Avon vice president and executive editor Lucia Macro was tasked with selecting the top three entries for Macomber to judge. The choice was difficult: all of the entries were excellent and eminently worthy of publication. Macro says, ?Each time I started reading one of the submissions, I felt like I was opening a present. And, believe me, making the decision for the final three wasn?t easy. I was truly impressed by the quality of so many of the stories, and that?s a testament to the talented writers who took the chance and entered.?

The finalists included ?The Bet? by Panzera; ?Miss Chance? by Cheryl Johnson and ?Where There?s Smoke? by Amy Mullins. The manuscripts were delivered anonymously to Macomber, who read them without knowing who the entrants were, and what stories they wrote. The bestselling author says that she selected ?The Bet? because it seemed like a good companion to her own story, Family Affair. Macomber says, ?I read ?The Bet? with delight and found myself smiling at this classic romance many times. It was a pleasure to read; light-hearted and uplifting. The author shows a great deal of promise and I expect to see many more stories come from her.?

To Panzera, entering in this contest was truly a bet that paid off. In addition to winning a $ 500 cash prize, the opportunity to have her story on bookshelves (and e-bookshelves), packaged with a beloved Macomber tale, is something she?d never even dreamed would happen to her. Panzera, who graduated from the Writer’s Digest Advanced Novel Writing School and The Christian Writer’s Guild apprentice writing program, says that she spent six years trying to get her manuscripts published. ?The dream to be a published author has been there inside me for a lifetime. When I found out I won Debbie Macomber’s “Make Your Dreams Come True” contest I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t!? Panzera will admit, like most aspiring authors, that her family has had more than their share of burnt dinners while she struggled to find the right words to put on paper. But, like Macomber, Panzera takes faith in hard work and perseverance. ?If you work hard to improve your craft, connect with other writers, and believe in yourself, dreams can come true.? For more information about this fresh new voice, visit her website, http://www.darlenepanzera.com.

In talking about the results of the ?Make Your Dream Come True? writing contest, an unparalleled opportunity generously afforded by Debbie Macomber to aspiring authors looking to break into publishing, Macro concludes, ?This has been such a delightful experience for us here at Avon Books. Congratulations to the finalists and thank you so much to everyone who took the time to enter. And a special personal thank you to Debbie Macomber. I truly appreciate her gracious and always-generous support for ?unknown? talent.?

The paperback and e-book edition of Family Affair (ISBN 9780061997136: $ 6.99; on-sale 6/26/12), which includes ?The Bet,? will be available everywhere books are sold July 2012 from Avon Books.

See, not every Christian agrees with Camping, in fact, I would guess that the vast majority of Christians in American and worldwide do not agree with him.

What I cannot figure out is, why is the media reporting any of this anyway? Are there not real issues to be covered? Scandals and corruptions in governement? How can they be watchdog on government abuse when they are too busy writing nonsense stories about nonsense?

control of the worlds governments are actually true, how do you feel about that? Are you in favor of a christian theocracy in the U.S. and then eventually a global christian theocracy? Didn’t we already go through that with the Holy Roman Empire and weren’t alot of christians even persecuted by that government?

1) Christians, if the news stories and books claiming that there are christian dominionists who want to take?
control of the worlds governments are actually true, how do you feel about that? Are you in favor of a christian theocracy in the U.S. and then eventually a global christian theocracy?

The world has lots of whackadoodles. Some of them want to take over the world (none are able). Some of them are Christian. It has no effect on my life.

2) Are you in favor of a christian theocracy in the U.S. and then eventually a global christian theocracy?

I would want to know the details of such a supposed theocracy before giving a firm answer, but probably I would be opposed (unless we are talking about the Millennium during which Jesus himself rules the Earth).

3) Didn’t we already go through that with the Holy Roman Empire and weren’t alot of christians even persecuted by that government?

The Holy Roman Empire certainly was not a theocracy, so the answer is: no. I don’t recall Christians being persecuted under that government – but I admit my knowledge of the history of that empire is limited to the most historically-important aspects. As I recall, the authority of Christianity was firmly subjected to the authority of the emperor – but that is far short of persecution.

Will the new Egyptian government be able to stop an impending Christian vs. Muslim civil war there?

Question by I Score With Every Woman I Meet: Will the new Egyptian government be able to stop an impending Christian vs. Muslim civil war there?
Check this out:
http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/christians-and-muslims-clash-865044.html

The place could blow up like Nigeria or Pakistan, with widespread intra-religious warfare.

I think what Egypt needs is a strongman leader like Stalin, who would blow up all the mosques and churches in the country and get rid of religion there. Fighting over land or water makes sense.
But religion? LOL.

Answer by Punk Rock and Minerals
I dunno
I think once the new government takes place, I think things will settle down
