Loboc River Docking Port (By Nightfall)
christian travel sites

Something you’ll never see most often than not: Loboc River Night Lights. (See the Bridge with Loboc Church as the backdrop.)

Against a backdrop of the unfinished bridge — which almost cuts into the Loboc Church’s side — as night falls, a different nostalgic and winding Loboc River Cruising is one that is not to be missed.

The lighting of the whole place was specially arranged and we requested it from the town mayor for this photographic assignment. Special thanks to Hon. Leon Calipusan, Ryan Gases (my host / tour guide), Bayon (our tour driver) and Alex Garcia-Calipusan, for this wonderful opportunity to shoot the island of Bohol.

Famous for its floating restaurants and dancing & serenading townsfolks on moored rafts, like pitstops, this is the place to be when in Loboc, Bohol, Philippines. See my Bohol Photography Assignment.

Bohol Factoids:

Bohol Island, southeast of Cebu, is the Philippines’ tenth largest island. Rich in agriculture and fishing, Bohol has been discovered by tourists seeking the simple charm of a rustic retreat. The rich tropical waters off Panglao island ebb and flow above some of the Philippines most seductive dive sites: the islands of Pamilacan and Balicasag.

The oldest stone church is located at Baclayon, six kilometers off Tagbilaran (now contested with the Loboc Church).

At Maribojoc, the Punta Cruz Tower and Cross stands as a silent sentinel guarding the entrance to the bay.

Panglao Church with its twin antique confessionals and the church at Dauis, are worth visiting.

The world’s smallest monkey, the Philippine Tarsier, shares a sanctuary with exotic flora and fauna near the inland town of Bilar.

Bohol’s mysterious Chocolate Hills are the island’s premier attraction. Ranging in height from 40 to 120 meters, the 1268 dot hills resemble like giant scoops of chocolate ice cream during the dry seasons.

Discover Paradise that is Bohol.

__________________________________________

Since pre-Hispanic times, Loboc has always been an inland market village where products from the sea were bartered for the agricultural goods of the upland regions. It is said to be the domain of Sigala, the other chief of Bohol, whose contemporary, Sikatuna, made the famous Blood Compact with Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in 1565.

In 1596, the Jesuit Fr. Juan de Torres came to Loboc from Baclayon to found the second oldest Christian settlement in the Island. After the traumatic Moro raid on Baclayon on October 26, 1600, the Jesuit Missionaries decided to move the center of their missionary activities to the inland village of Loboc. By 1602, Loboc became a Parish, making it the oldest in the Island. To the Jesuits, Loboc was the Residencia Boholana, where their local superior resided. It remained so until the middle of the 18th century when the exigencies of the times forced to them to move once more to Baclayon. — Wikipedia

Gold Domes for Sale
christian travel sites

Image by Roads Less Traveled Photography
• HDR Photo

One way some monasteries pay their way is making "gold domes" for other churches. Or a reasonable facsimile of such. Rest assured that in these particular domes, there is no gold. One had a tag of approximately 16,000 hriven, which comes out to around 00. With the price of gold well over 00 an ounce, this is a case where "all that glimmers isn’t gold."

Comments and Faves much appreciated!

Q&A: Looking for a Wife….I’m 20yo?

Question by Just Another Dude…lol: Looking for a Wife….I’m 20yo?
Before anyone posts comments about dating sites, let me remind u that I’m not desparate enough to spend money to meet people I prolly won’t be interested in. lol
I’m 20 years old.
I’m outgoging, some of my interests are racing, electronics, and sound equipment. I’m a Christian, so I need a Christian girl. I want a girl that isn’t ashamed of God. Looks don’t matter to me, but I do want a girl that takes care of herself. Like I said I want a Christian girl, so smoking, drinking, nightclubs are not my thing. I want a girl thats down to earth and fun to be around. I want a girl that knows what she wants in life and persues it, or maybe if she doesn’t have it all the way figured out but sorta knows what she wants…..I live in Monroe, LA…..I’m willing to travel to meet someone but that would be weird. lol Here’s my FB link http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1179488704

Please no weirdos….I just wanna meet nice people, and hopefully find the one for me. dating sites are too expensive and I don’t go out much due to work so meeting a nice Christian girl in my age group is difficult…. please no smart comments, I want real comments….if ur interested look me up. I won’t lie to you and stab u in the back, and I wouldn’t want u to do anything hurtful to me…. If u wanna know more, email me.

There’s nothing desperate about using a dating site to help you meet people to date…it’s more “desperate” to post on a non-dating site (like Yahoo!Answers) hoping to get replies to your “ad”…

Start talking to people you meet offline and taking advantage of the various ways to meet people online (dating and social sites are great for that)…and in a few years, when you’re actually a LOT more likely to be ready to marry, hopefully you’ll have met someone suitable and be in a healthy, mature relationship…

Don’t be in such a hurry to tie yourself down…you’re a few years too young to even be contemplating marriage…

Jerusalem Travel Doc – Part 09 end

Since 1986 the United Nations Committee on Decolonization has included New Caledonia on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories. New Caledonia will decide whether to remain within the French Republic or become an independent state in a referendum sometime after 2014. Grande Terre Melanesia southwest Pacific Nouméa Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and its largest city in both population and area, with 732100 residents in an area of 125.1 square kilometres (48.3 sq mi) if disputed East Jerusalem is included. Located in the Judean Mountains, between the Mediterranean Sea and the northern tip of the Dead Sea, modern Jerusalem has grown up outside the Old City. The city has a history that goes back to the 4th millennium BCE, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. Jerusalem has been the holiest city in Judaism and the spiritual center of the Jewish people since the 10th century BCE, contains a number of significant ancient Christian sites, and is considered the third-holiest city in Islam.Despite having an area of only 0.9 square kilometer (0.35 square mile), the Old City is home to sites of key religious importance, among them the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque. The old walled city, a World Heritage site, has been traditionally divided into four quarters, although the names used today — the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters — were introduced in the early 19th

At 17, I really don’t think you should be looking for someone to share your farm with (which I’d say is actually your parent’s, not yours).
