The Plight Of Mideast Christians – Dennis Prager reads Michael Oren

3/9/12 – Dennis Prager introduces this segment and then reads an article by Michael Oren in the Wall Street Journal (online.wsj.com Transcript: “Those of you who have faith in world opinion, please know, it is doing nothing. As far as the United Nations is concerned, they devote massive amounts of time to Islamophobia. So let me assert, for the record, that what there is in this world is Christianophobia. But there’s no word for it, because the Left makes up our political vocabulary, and they are uninterested in persecution of Christians. If what were happening to Christians were happening to Jews or Muslims, there would be a worldwide outcry. But there is not only no worldwide outcry of the decimation of Christian communities in the middle east, there isn’t even a worldwide Christian outcry. Christians have gone from 20% of the Middle East a century ago to less than 5% today. In Egypt 200 thousand Coptic Christians fled their homes last year, after beatings and massacres by Muslim Extremist mobs. Since 2003, 70 Iraqi churches have been burned, and nearly a thousand Christians killed in Baghdad alone, causing more than half of the million Iraqi Christians to flee. Conversion to Christianity is a capitol offense in Iran, where last month Pastor Yusuf Nadarkhani was sentenced to death. Saudi Arabia outlaws private Christian prayer. As 800 thousand Jews were once expelled from Arab countries, so are Christians being forced from lands they have inhabited for centuries

Persecution Blog Calls Attention to Plight of Persecuted Christians Around the World

(PRWEB) July 11, 2005

Christian non-profit ministry Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), in partnership with marketing agency Web Direct Advertising, has started a blog focused on the plight of Christians across the globe who are being persecuted for their faith.

Called the Persecution Blog (http://www.persecutionblog.com), the web log provides daily updated news and information about persecuted Christians in countries such as Egypt, Pakistan, and China. It also attempts to focus the attention of Christians in the US and abroad on the peril fellow believers face daily in many third-world countries.

“We hope the Persecution Blog will become the central online point for the expression of ideas about the persecuted church,? said Todd Nettleton, Director of News Services for Voice of the Martyrs. He added, ?As so many are thinking, writing, reading and learning about the persecuted church, we believe the natural outflow will be to pray more often and more fervently, and to seek ways of blessing our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.”

Regarding the use of web log technology to help communicate Voice of the Martyr?s message, Web Direct CEO Steve Cleary said, “As an owner of a marketing firm, I understand the need to always be on the cutting edge of technology maximizing its potential for the dissemination of the client’s message. Blogging is quickly becoming one of the most cost effective ways of doing this.”

Web Direct contracted business blog consulting firm Radiant Marketing Group (http://www.radiantmarketinggroup.com) to design and build the blog, oversee blog marketing efforts and provide training to the blogger. The firm chose as its blogger for the project Stacy Harp, a committed Christian and veteran blogger with deep roots in the Christian blogging community.

Information is updated on the blog several times each day. Though still in its early stages, the site is becoming a popular clearinghouse of information on the persecuted church. To date there is nothing else like it on the Internet.

Voice of the Martyrs (http://www.persecution.com) is a non-profit, interdenominational organization with a vision for aiding Christians around the world who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ, fulfilling the Great Commission, and educating the world about the ongoing persecution of Christians.
