Yaaaay!!!! Christian violence in the news!! Christians – what is your take?

First story:

http://www.ktvu.com/news/22637702/detail.html?treets=fran&tid=2656403492813&tml=fran_12pm&tmi=fran_12pm_1_02000202232010&ts=H

Prosecutors say that a Christian cult leader ordered her followers to starve a 1yo boy to death, because he failed to say “Amen” before eating. When he died, they prayed for his resurrection – and when he failed to come back to life, the leader blamed the child’s mother. Saddest part – the mother is so deluded that she has agreed to testify against the cult leader, but on one condition – if her son actually resurrects, her testimony is null and void… I guess it is safe to assume she will be testifying…

Second article:

Evangelical Christians attack VooDoo practitioners in Haiti. According to the article, all kinds of Christian missionaries are flocking to Haiti in hopes of salvaging some souls. I thought this comment reveals a particularly insidious plan on behalf of the Christians going down there:

“There’s absolutely a heightened spiritual conflict between Christianity and Voodoo since the quake,” said Pastor Frank Amedia of the Miami-based Touch Heaven Ministries who has been distributing food in Haiti and proselytizing.

“We would give food to the needy in the short term but if they refused to give up Voodoo, I’m not sure we would continue to support them in the long term because we wouldn’t want to perpetuate that practice. We equate it with witchcraft, which is contrary to the Gospel.”

Give em food in the short term – but force them to give up their beliefs if they want any further aid. That is freaking SHAMEFUL.

I wonder how that Pastor would feel if Doctors Without Borders refused to give any medical care to a Christian until they denounced their faith….
No Chance – do you mean THIS story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100224/ap_on_re_us/us_texas_church_fires;_ylt=AnSA116SdEF.KUVOZtni2dzs.6F4;_ylu=X3oDMTNhcWdkcGNxBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwMjI0L3VzX3RleGFzX2NodXJjaF9maXJlcwRjY29kZQNtb3N0cG9wdWxhcgRjcG9zAzcEcG9zAzcEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yaWVzBHNsawNyZXBvcnRjaHVyY2g-

Or did you learn of the burnings via psychic visions??

To the rest of you – good call on the No True Scotsman fallacy being thrown around…

  1. No Chance Without Jesus says:

Well I was getting tired of all the church burning news stories from Texas

Oh wait, no one was reporting that

  2. Dreamstuff Entity says:

Their take is often the No True Scotsman logical fallacy.

  3. Blessed Cheesemaker (cancelled) says:

Should we react like the Christians did to Muslim Terrorists?

NoChancewoJesus: Did you learn about the Texas church burnings through clairvoyance?

  4. Rod says:

Yeah, and they complain about the Muslims! The only difference is timing.

  5. gutbucket says:

Here comes the “No true Scotsman fallacy”!

  6. Zetsu says:

About time, now we can blame another religion besides muslims for violence.

  7. Schlitzie says:

No Chance Without Jesus- The church burnings were perpetrated by 2 former Baptist parishioners

  8. Preys Jesus says:

We just call it doing our duty as Christians to support Jesus.

When that boy ressurects what will you be saying then? You will just refuse to believe that Jesus can perform miracles. Typical atheist hypocrisy.

  9. Jeanmarie says:

    “Cult leader” says it all.
Those people do not represent Christ or me.

  10. Pastor Art (((SFECU says:

well what do you want from a bunch of crazy freakin fundies all fundies are a bunch of crazy bastards and are not christians

  11. Watev says:

Adorable. I couldn’t imagine Christians EVER doing something bad.

  12. Exodiafinder says:

Stalin killed millions of people and he is an atheist. I guess that really says something about atheists.

  13. Smooth Raven Kitty says:

    The baby story is horrible
The ten Baptists snatched some kids in Haiti too
I hate their holier then thou hypocrisy

  14. BrokenEye, Lord and Savior says:

Nonono. See, its okay when Christians do it, its perfectly alright because they’re just expressing their views. Anyone else who does it is a terrorist.

  15. Actual Answer VPD says:

“I wonder how that Pastor would feel if Doctors Without Borders refused to give any medical care to a Christian until they denounced their faith….”

They would cry bloody persecution and talk about half-baked NWO theories.

It is shameful, and not very Christian in either regard.

  16. FukYahoo says:

you’re going to use a few false “Christians” with mental issues (that are malpracticing Christianity) to degrade the whole Christian religion…if I were you I’d ask for forgiveness from your God for attempting to do such a hateful thing…

  17. Andy F says:

Yes, people do sometimes engage in very abusive practices in the name of religion.

    Self-styled Christians are sometimes involved.

It’s sad & discouraging sometimes, a bleak insight into what kinds of violence all humans are capable of committing.

I don’t know if your two examples prove much more than that, however.

Off and on, the media carry stories about violence & abuses committed by various kinds of non-Christians: Jews, Muslims, Hindus, self-styled satanists, atheists, and so. But I’m not sure we should ever judge the merits of large groups of people based on the actions of just a few members.

  18. The Truth Hurts! Ouch! says:

“Prosecutors say that a Christian cult leader ordered her followers to starve a 1yo boy to death, because he failed to say “Amen” before eating.”

Well, obviously this person was not a Christian. Anybody can call themselves a “Christian”. I can call myself a boat but that does not make me a boat.

  19. Shalom Y'all says:

God’s Word says to love your enemy…. it does not say give your enemy the means to defeat you….

the so-called Doctors without Border(from the US) routinely deny care to their own people… preferring to give it to those who are enemies of the US

  20. Someone who cares says:

According to the Bible they are cursed…..
    Matthew 25
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

  21. katrissa2000 says:

Idiots and psychos aren’t limited to religions.
Its not the first, nor will it be the last case of insane people doing screwed up things.
Just because someone calls them self a Christa in, doesn’t necessarily make them one.

Just the same if this religious cult claimed to be jewish, They can call themselves that all they want but when they fail to follow the rules that apply to Judaism, they are NOT considered Jewish, no matter how much they claim they are.

I think its sad how people see S*** like this and since it has the word “religious” or “christian” in it they go crazy, and say “HA HA SEE??? Religions ARE cults!!”

How many crimes are made by those who ARE NOT religious?

I think we should all just recognize weak and sick people for who they are, not what “religious stance” they take, because in the end, no religion that I know of (which includes christianity and judaism) allows or condones VIOLENCE because of someone not being able to say “AMEN”

  22. Letting It Stand says:

    Prejudiced or what?
How do you feel? Better for getting it off your chest?

Get some things right though: Christians do and will always flock when they see distress and harm. That’s what we’re called to do. It’s the whole point of Christianity. It’s what we term serving God.
Nowhere does it say God tells us to kill our children for any such slight.
Nowhere does it say that we have the right to kill and make live again.
No, we don’t kill our children when they are born with a mental or physical handicap like atheist secular hospitals do.
If the story is true, try the woman for murder. But perhaps she is more deranged than should be mocked or ridiculed. She sounds very ill. Why mock such a sad event?

In the meantime, I’m sure you will continue your jibes, your attacks, your hatred, but we will keep on helping those who accept our help. Even when you’re down, be sure a Christian somewhere will still help you though afterwards you will probably attack us still and continue to show your hatred to us.
Love, Peace and Justice are what really matter.

  23. Vajrasiddha says:

They did the same thing to my Mom, after a day without food, she told me she realized she was wrong, and has been following them ever since, she was only 6 when it happened. And I’ve had to put up with the crap, I’ve been beat, thrown to a wall. Excommunicated, that Holy Water BS thrown in my face by family that wasn’t even Catholic. All because they wanted me to be part of their social circle.
My mom said, it made her look bad, like she didn’t do a good job of bringing me up.

I told her Jesus ain’t the only one able to do miracle powers, which according to her is all the evidence she needed to believe. (I was adept at mostly Tummo and Lung gom) I was told not to display mine, otherwise the same BS would happen, and wars would break out because of it. I used a less violent approach, I showed her the Kalama Sutra, of which she thinks only the devil incarnate could have written. She has no sense of reasoning, except when doing taxes and cooking.

In the Kalama Sutra, Buddha says.
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it..
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

If only she could have applied this reasoning to her evil wicked ways, the Church everybody went to wouldn’t have burned down.

  24. TaZ says:

    SELF GOAL!
    ==========

You said: “Christian cult leader ordered her followers”

The word CULT means it is NOT CHRISTIANITY
HER means it is not a Bible following Christian Church.

  25. LottaLou says:

This is not something to ‘Yaaaay!!!!’ about.

The first situation is a cult. To starve a 1yr old child to death because he doesn’t say ‘Amen’ is evil. Not Christian.
Jesus said to not offend these little ones, for they are like the Kingdom of Heaven. So Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus wouldn’t starve a child to death because he didn’t say ‘Amen’.
Why accuse Christians of doing this. One of satan’s ploys is to possess people and let them claim to be Christians & do evil things while claiming to be Christian. These individuals who murdered this child had to have been demon possessed. Why else would they laugh about it in court?
    ———–

Many Christians in Haiti are there because they already had missions there before the earthquake. And they are there to help the people. And part of that is helping them spiritually too. Because God loves the Haitians.
When VooDoo practitioners come around & do their demonic occult activities… then of course the people will get mad, because that just invites more destruction (demonic activity).

And there is a heightened spiritual conflict between Christians & Voodoo because hell has been stirred up underneath. And the Christian battle is not against flesh & blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. Also, Christians are helping people because they are human beings. But if they want to practice the occult while receiving food from Christians, Christians do not want to be participators in their evil deeds. So Jesus would not want us to feed those in the act of praying to demons. If they are well enough to practice voodoo, they don’t need Christian help.

  26. Andrea says:

ALL fundamentalism is dangerous. People do a lot of evil in the name of God.
