Question by Buddhist_teen: Why do the JW’s, and some other christians always say “have you heard the good news”?
Isn’t the “good” news that pretty soon two thirds of the world is going to hell? Only one third of the world is christian, so that doesn’t exactly sound good to me.

I try to respect all other religions and lack there of, and I do, but hell is one belief I can’t bring myself to respect. So why is it “good” news?

It’s obviously another unethical Christian marketing strategy.

If someone told you that the building you were in was going to collapse and burn, and that the only exit was “over there”, would you sit there…

    1) blaming the messenger.
    2) blaming the architect.
    3) blaming the people who lit the place on fire (humans).
    4) get the heck out of there?

I’m not a Christian, I’m not even religious, but this kind of nonsense just drives me crazy.

Feel free to believe what you want, but the desperate attempts to attack Christianity are needy.

the good is jesus died on a cross to take away the sins of the whole world never to see them again and is now offering life to those who will belive in this truth by faith, and jesus rasies us to spiritual life. receiving the offer of life read 1john 5:11,13

Because if they can sucker someone into believing the same drivel they do. They get brownie points, its a meal ticket to heaven for them.

The missionaries are the same, they move into some 3rd world illiterate area, destroy the local culture. Tell lies, ie, condoms spreads AIDS. And when the ensuing blood bath starts, they sod off back to their luxury homes in the modern world, feeling proud of themselves.

They are just interfering, egotistical busy bodies. They know nothing. 🙂

Because it is indeed good news!
If you lived in a rat-infested tenement that the landlord refused to fix, but one day someone else bought it and decided to rebuild it and make it exceptional and worthy of living in…..would not you opt for the better arrangement?

This is what Jehovah is going to do soon….restore the earth to it’s original paradise quality…just like in the beginning, and to top that off, we will be healthy, happy, and perfect and we will never die! Thanks to the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ….
Now, if that’s not GOOD NEWS, I don’t know what is!

  9. prophet says:

God doesn’t wish that any should perish.

2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

  10. tony.mammano says:

Hell is not what you should be worried about. The concept of “hell” has been manipulated greatly by various factions of the church to satisfy one or another agenda.
The truth is found in the Bible, and it should be studied in the original languages whenever possible, as there is much room for error in the text we have today if one is not careful.
There is a program you may download for free called E-Sword, and it is a very good source of information regarding this subject. It allows you to view the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments, and also allows the original Hebrew and Greek as they apply.
I will reserve my own opinion about “hell”, as it is a personal thing, and you probably would not understand, but I would encourage you, if you have a mind to, and have some questions, to get the program, and get right to it. Time is short.
Oh, the “good news” is that salvation is available to all through the work of Jesus Christ upon the Cross. You need only ask, and it shall be done. Peace and be well.

JWs know the hell as a place of torture is false

  12. RussJW says:

Hi there, I am one of the active JWs. Let me clarify what we really believe 😉

First we do not believe that wicked people will burn to hell. THe good news of the Kingdom that we bring to people is that wickedness is about to end and that Jehovah will appoint His Son Jesus to be the king of the paradise earth. (Dan 2:44). In that paradise there will be no death, sickness, badness and there will be abundance of peace (Rev 21:4, Isa 33:24, Prov 2:21-22 and Isa 11:6-9). So these are all part of the good news. Because this means end of all suffering for mankind 😉

At last man will be free from the slavery of death, sickness and wickedness.

We do not believe Jehovah punishes people by torturing them to a fiery hell. A loving parent would never do that to his/her children. Hell is just a common grave. Wicked will be removed forever bad Jehovah need not to torture them. Rom 6:23 says, the wages sin pay is death..not eternal torment. kindly read the links from our official website. I sincerely hope you’ll find time reading these.. thank you..

For further information & learn more – you may wish to get in touch with Jehovah’s Witnesses at the local Kingdom Hall. Or:

“This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth,” said Jesus Christ in his prophecy about “the conclusion of the system of things.” (Matthew 24:3, 14) Throughout the earth, the good news of the Kingdom—what the Kingdom is, what it will do, and how we can receive its blessings—is being preached in over 230 lands and in more than 400 languages. Millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses zealously preach the Kingdom good news. They come from “all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues.” (Revelation 7:9) The Witnesses conduct free home Bible studies with millions of people who want to know what the Bible really teaches.

Only God’s Kingdom can provide economic security, peace, freedom from crime, impartial treatment of all ethnic groups, education, and health care.—Ps. 145:16. God’s Kingdom now rules from the heavens and will soon replace all human rulership. This Kingdom will transform the earth into a paradise filled with people who love God and their fellowman.

The thought of people living on earth as subjects of God’s Kingdom may seem strange to many Bible believers who think of all those saved as being in heaven. The Bible shows that only a limited number go to heaven and that those who will live forever on earth will be a great crowd of unlimited number. (Psalm 37:11, 29; Revelation 7:9; 14:1-5)

It is this Kingdom and the Scripturally supported hope of everlasting life on a cleansed and beautified earth that Jehovah’s Witnesses wish to tell you about. Millions now living and many, many millions now in their graves will have opportunity to dwell therein forever. Then, under the Thousand Year Reign of Christ Jesus, Jehovah’s original purpose for creating the earth and putting the first human pair on it will be realized. This earthly Paradise will never become boring. Just as Adam was assigned work in the garden of Eden, so humankind will have challenging projects in caring for the earth and the plant and animal life on it. They “shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”—Isaiah 65:22, “Revised Standard Version”; Genesis 2:15.
Many scriptures could be presented to show the conditions that will exist when the prayer that Jesus taught us is answered. (Matthew 6:10) However, here is one for now: “I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ‘Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’ And the One seated on the throne said: ‘Look! I am making all things new.’ Also, he says: ‘Write, because these words are faithful and true.’”—Revelation 21:3-5.
