Christian Ponder will be limited in practice this week for Seminoles
Orlando Sentinel TALLAHASSEE — Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder will be limited in practice this week while he attempts to recover from a deep triceps bruise, coach Jimbo Fisher said on Monday. Ponder suffered the injury during FSU’s Sept. 11 defeat at Oklahoma, where he absorbed a blow from an Oklahoma player’s helmet on the back of his throwing arm. Though Ponder is expected to start …

Is This Christianity?

Dear Bishop Spong,

I wrote to you a little while ago on the same general subject as Dr. Gerald Neuberg. I don’t believe that you have responded to that either privately or publicly, though I could have missed it.

My point was that you SHOULD give your philosophy/religion a new name, not pretend that is Christianity.

I read your explanation here with interest. Some of what you write is correct, of course, but then some of the serpent’s words in Eden were correct. The problem in such matters as these is to distinguish between the essential core and the inessential periphery.

If I change my clothes and hairstyle and even have plastic surgery, I am still me – the same person. On the other hand, when the Battersea Power Station in London had all the machinery taken out, it ceased to be a power station. It now looks the same from the outside, but it is in fact an art gallery. The British Labour Party of Prime Minister Tony Blair has retained it’s old name but, for good or ill, it is no longer a socialist party. The inner being and therefore it’s actions and results are very different.

To deserve the name of Christ, Christianity has to retain it’s core beliefs. There was nothing “first-century culture” about Jesus rising from the dead; it was no easier to believe in then than now. Nor has the nature of mankind changed with the changes in culture and scientific knowledge – indeed the 20th century was probably the most brutal ever. It saw Flanders and the trenches, the holocaust, Hiroshima, and the Killing Fields of Cambodia, among many “inhumanities” and already in this century we have 9/11, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay.

So the message that God in human form sacrificed Himself to overcome our subjection to death and rose from death to bring a new spiritual life to those that fully accept it, is timeless. It has no boundaries of century, culture, or geography. Sin and forgiveness, death and life, are still very real, very present in our lives today. Change the liturgies by all means (please) with new worship forms, reword the creeds into more easily understood forms if necessary, translate the Scriptures into modern language, emulate the Apostle Paul who said, “I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some,” but if you do not know what “save” means and you say that Jesus did not rise bodily from death, or you say that He will not return to bring on the Judgement Day, then it is no longer Christianity that you promote but a different thing which modern people find more comfortable.

On that point you give the game away when you say, “I have to force my Christian faith into the thought forms dictated by the 21st century,” whereas Jesus refused to force His thought forms into those of either the Jewish tradition or the Graeco-Roman world and Paul wrote, “Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds.”

Jesus said plainly. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no-one comes to the Father except through Me.” That statement can be believed and accepted or disbelieved and rejected, but it can’t be updated! It is not subject to time and space.

You should make it plain to your readers where you stand on that core challenge.

Article One God Divided in This World

One God but divided world ?

Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate,

Formerly Employment Officer P.E.S.II,

E,Mail, dalipsinghwassan @ Yahoo Co. In.

In all the religious books established in this World, we have been told that God is one and one only and it has never been divided into parts. God was one when He was all alone and when He established this world and He remained one throughout the ages and even to day He is one and has not been divided. But when we base ourselves on the basis of religions, we have established so many religions in this world and when go further deep into the these religions, we find that every religion has got its own God and the people in each religion have got their own God and they worship that God only and if they go to the God of another religion, formaly or otherwise, they just perform rites as the people of that religion are performing, but in his heart of heart that fellow has got no faith in God of another religion. It has beome very clear that the people on this world say that there is one God, but since they have already divided this God into so many parts, now they are not in a position to collect all parts of God and unite the same into one God.

In history a time came when Akbar the Great tried to establish ‘ Din i Illahi’, but he failed and could not establish his desired common religion. Later on Shri Guru Arjan dev ji tried and he had been successful in editing a common Granth known in the name and style of Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji. But the Sikh Community has declared that this Granth belongs to them and they are not allowing establishing this Shri Guru Granth sahib ji in Hindu Temples and religious places of other religions. It means the Sikhs are not allowing that other religions should adopt this common Granth. So efforts to establish one religion have failed and now the people are fundamentally divided on the basis of religion and no power on earth shall be able to establish one religion on this earth and the people shall remain divided and there are chances that more and more further divisions shall be there on the basis of some religions or sub religions. Some sub religions have already taken their birth and at times, it seems that these sub religions are growing more and more strong and the people who are establishing these sub religions are becoming more and more rich and powerful and they are appointing guards to protect their properties.

We have noted that all the people in different religions are trying to establish their separate and different idendity and if we have a look we can identify that the man standing before us is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh,Christian or a man belonging to some sub religion because he has a hair cut of his own style, has got a different language, different way of saluting you, different way of behaving and having different cloth-cuts. They have constructed their places of worship in different way and they are trying to establish more and more identity-marks. When such developments are going on, we must believe that we would never be able to establish a common religion and people shall continue to establish that their own religion is the best in the world and they shall be collecting all good things, all good philosophies with their religions and they shall say to the world that their religion is the world and they shall be calling people from other religions to join them and if need be they shall convert others to their own religion and if we probe into the facts of history, we come to the conclusion that there had been times when people in power had been converting others to their own fold and some people had been killed because they did not agree to convert.

The divisions on the basis of religions would never allow us to become one world and this world shall remain a divided places and till these divisions are there, men shall be fighting amongst each other and shall be killing each other. nIf God wants that He should remain one, then He shall have to come down on this earth and shall have to unite this world and shall have to give them one religion. It seems, even God would not be able to unite this man on this earth because such divisions could have been stopped at the early stages. Now man has established these divisions and these divisions have been confirmed and permanently established. So concept of one God is no more alive on this earth.

Jesus’ 1st miracle was at Cana is this the same Q’ana where the children were bombed?

Jesus turned water into wine at the marriage at Cana. I heard somewhere that Cana = Q’ana in S. Lebanon, a town that was completely destroyed by bombing and where > 30 mothers and children were killed when they hid in a basement. I can’t find a reliable reference for this, if you know one, please post. Also, if there are other Christian sites in S. Lebanon that you know about, can you give me a reference? I think there are at least a few because Jesus travelled all around the area. No insults please, I’m seeking information.
43 – Jesus has nothing to do with Aljazeera. Are you trying to be clever? Either this is true or not , it doesn’t have to do with a political orientation, facts are facts and this should be a simple one.
wiseguy: In Catholic school, I was taught this was Jesus’ first miracle, I don’t recall the Gospel but will check. Catholics don’t learn the Bible as well as Protestants.
John 2:1-11.

Noone had info, Y!A not good for much besides insults. Wikipedia says “While the village of Qana, now in southern Lebanon, is said to be an unlikely candidate for the location, many Lebanese Christians believe Qana to be the correct site. ”

Christians! About Christian temples in this world ?

I have planned my life in a following way : All the life I follow Jesus, I work for money, after that I travel to different country, work on the same work but in foreign country and the following questions are :
1. What country or actually where do the Christian temples exist? By temple I mean, when someone says : “…you cannot be 100% pure from sins, if want to then ya gotta go to some mountain temple to live with The Christians” , yes I want some Christian monks temple address or so.
2. I will be ready when I go to temple, but my question is that what do the monks eat, since I am here on the “ground” I eat only using money, so how do they?
3. What are the Holy Countries where a man is allowed to enter. Are there any requirements ?
4. Extra details about Christian monks, temples, addresses, mountain, any books or sites that describe it etc. May God Bless You All !
Then what about the saying that “Go live in mountain to be pure”. Stay away from Earthly doings. Get to Be The True Christian and Then return distributing The Faith !

He’s in China, I’m in America; can this work? He wants me to travel to China to meet him. I won’t do that.

We met on a Christian Mingle site. He started in with the love talk fairly quick. He was calling and when it came him wanting to meet in person, he did not want to come to America. He said travel would be easier for me because he would have to request a visa from his country, South Africa. Now, he never calls me and we IM but, I do not really want to be bothered with being emotionally enthraled with someone so far away. I am a woman and feel safer if he were to come here. Another thing is that he wants me to stay at his apartment; I feel that any person traveling that far to meet a stranger should have their own space. Meaning, stay at a hotel. He disappeared for 4 days a few weeks ago and I was upset because he just did not think about how I would feel. He did not see why I was upset. He said he was busy but, if he did not make time in a busy situation by typing a message, what would I expect from him all the way in China?
