Christian Icebreakers – Break the Ice With Your Small Group

Christian icebreakers are a high value activity for you and your small group. Instead of wasting time feeling awkward and pressured, you can just move right onto the fun part of the group. A group that feels comfortable with each other will be able to accomplish a lot more together. They will also build relationships that last a lifetime. Have you ever tried a Christian icebreaker for your group? If not, here are a few ideas to help get you started.

Here are some things that you can do to help get everyone comfortable in a group. 1. Rock Band tournament- Almost everyone these days is playing Rock Band. Either they love to be the lead singer, play the guitar, or pound the drums and this is a great way to show it off. This is a fantastic way to get everyone having fun in no time. Divide everyone up into bands and start rocking out. You might want to pre-select the songs so you can make sure that they’re clean. 2. Who am I? – This game is pretty simple, but fun at the same time. Write down the names of a bunch of famous people on pieces of paper and place them in a bowl. Let everyone select one and then tape it to their forehead without them seeing it. The objective is to go around and ask people questions about your person. They can only be “yes” or “no” questions. First one to guess their person wins. 3. I’ve never done that before- Give everyone 10 pieces of candy to start the game. Take turns going around a circle and telling things that you’ve never done before. When someone else in the group has done that action before, they have to put a piece of candy in the bowl. The last person with candy wins.

Getting the conversation going is the main idea behind these Christian icebreakers. You can tweak the games however you want. The most important thing is to get rid of that general awkward feeling that goes along with being in a new group. Sharing common experiences is a great way to get everyone on the same page. The next time they see each other they’ll have something to talk about and it just builds from there. Get your small group started on the right foot and use an icebreaker for your next gathering.
