CC by the neutraldoctor. From CWCki: “Filmed October 16, 1999. The local news media do a fluff piece on the rise of Pokemon fandom, and Chris happens to be among the small children playing the game. This clip provides the DVD cover with its money line: ‘I’ll send out my Dragonair, even though it has 60 Damage on it. Oh, Boy! It has 3 Energy on it… Slam Attack!'”
Video Rating: 4 / 5
OH BOY.
SLAM ATTACK
“Why do you like Pokemon?”
“I don’t know.”
AKA “I like it because all other kids like it, so I’m supposed to.”
@KingoffKentucky
and has potentially been made less of a fool by Trolls.
0:43-0:47 no it started with a video game, not a cartoon
That’s still not really justifiable. You have to let go of kid stuff when you get older, with some exceptions.
@sexhaie LOL
@rtangs Wow that sucks, hope you didn’t encounter any other manchildren when you worked there.
1:09 there he is???????
you know what’s really sad? all the kids you just saw in the video, they all probably have already grown up, went to college. got major degrees, DID something with them, met a nice girl or boy, started a family, got their own home, and got a great job they enjoy, and right now are living the dream, and in about 20 or so years they may have enough to retire early, meanwhile we go back to chris and he’ll sadly be doing the same thing as always in 20 years… *imagines tomegirl photos* ugh….
@N3vam0re
Seems like he was a potential rapist even then.
It funny to think that all the kids in this video have grown up and may or may not have abandoned Pokemon. Chris on the other hand…is just Chris. While the kids grew up into adults, Chris seems to regress more into a kid as time goes on. An interesting paradox actually.
“byantine rules”
Seriously? A cardgame is byzantine to those virginia rednecks?
Americans…
slam attack
Back in those days, if you had Charizard in your card collection, you’d be the talk of the playground.
Back in those days, if you had a Charizard card in your collection, you’d be the most popular kid on the playground.
@ColonelOrnery In my school it got banned because older kids would take the younger kids’ cards away.
@Kidthecynic It’s the news talking about a viral series, they don’t even care, they just read what’s on the paper.
While Chris was playing pokemon, every other guy his age was getting pussy.
@rtangs Im so sorry to hear that 🙁
0:42 RESEARCH FAIL. It got started with a VIDEO GAME series, which got turned into a cartoon series, which got turned into a card game. Dumbass.
“JOLTEON!” 😀
“What’s so special about Jolteon?” =/
“…he’s holographic!” 😀
Ha ha haaaa, we were a bunch of fucking suckers back then, weren’t we?
Also, CWC touched all of those kids that day.
?One of these things don’t belong here, One of these things are weird?
I got into Pokemon in 5th grade. For me and most other kids it was about just getting the 150 different types. As I started to fill the collection I learn to play the game and me and my brother tried to build to best decks to beat each other, he focused on electric and I focused on psychic. But it seemed like almost everyone got bored with it when they started adding more Pokemon and by 7th grade I didn’t care anymore. Seems like Chris never grew up, forever in middle school.
@feh2 Racist
Oh my god, I worked at that store. 🙁
